Trust Fostering - Training

Support

Access to a named social worker - You will have a named social worker in the Fostering Team whose job it is to support you. Your social worker will meet with you regularly to make sure that you are ok.

Phone support - During the day there is a duty worker from the Fostering Team available to offer support and answer any queries you may have. There is an emergency number you can contact if you need to talk to someone out of hours.

Support groups - We run a number of monthly support groups, which all carers are encouraged to attend. These provide you with an opportunity to hear from guest speakers, meet and socialise with other foster carers and share ideas and advice. See Doncaster Foster Carers' Association (DFCA) for further information.

Quarterly newsletter - We produce a quarterly newsletter for foster carers. This provides you with information and keeps you up to date with events and activities as well as some more light hearted fun and games

The Fostering Network – we provide all carers with membership of Fostering Network. The membership provides free legal advice, advice on tax and personal finance issues and an independent helpline amongst other benefits.

Once prospective foster carers apply to be assessed with Doncaster, they can join New Family Social themselves via their website and will automatically be provided with free membership.
