New Training Brochure
The new training programme has been emailed to you and is also below. Please read this carefully and complete the application form or email the Fostering Development Coordinator with your course choices. Your supervising social worker will also discuss these courses and programmes with you, as will the Fostering Reviewing Officer to support your careers as carers. Please do not hesitate to contact Zak Darwood (details below) if you require further information, to book a space on a course or discuss your training needs further.

It can be very helpful to carers to meet other carers for mutual support and to develop skills and experience. A Foster Carer Support Group and a Foster Carer Focus Group are run locally, and we strongly encourage all carers to attend a group on a regular basis and take advantage of the support available. The groups are a great way of meeting other carers, sharing knowledge, experience and forming networks. They also provide an opportunity for us to hear your views and feedback which we then use to improve our service. From time to time there are guest speakers to talk about pertinent issues connected to fostering. If you want to be put in touch with other foster carers who live in your area or who attended your training course please ask your Supervising Social Worker.

Brent Carers Support Group
The Fostering Support Group meetings take place every second Tuesday of the month (excluding August).

The Support Group is held at Brent Civic Centre, Engineers Way, Wembley, HA9 0FJ. All Foster Carers, Nominated Carers and Kinship Carers are invited to attend.

For details on the dates, times and room locations plus the content of each Support Group please contact your supervising social worker or speak to the Fostering Development Coordinator.

Please feel free to contact Zak Darwood, Fostering Development Coordinator on 0208 937 4458 / 0778 833 5717 or email: for further details or to make suggestions for future Support Groups discussions.
