Getting Started:

Welcome to Doncaster Children Services Trust online Foster Carer’s Handbook.

If this is the first time you've visited this online handbook, please take a minute to look at Getting Started with this Handbook which will help you become familiar with the layout and functions of the handbook.

The Doncaster Children Services Trust Foster Carer’s Handbook has been designed as a useful resource for both new and existing foster carers and covers the day to day issues you may face in your role as a Foster Carer.

This handbook contains links to the Minimum Standards for Fostering Services and references the relevant Training, Support and Development Standards. The handbook can be used to support your learning and development, particularly in relation to meeting the Induction Standards.

Foster carers play a vitally important role in the lives of Children in Care and their families, so it is important that you have the necessary tools to support you with this task. The handbook is one of these tools, alongside support from your Supervising Social Worker, other professionals and other foster carers.
